2017 VTech Sit to Stand Learning Walker Review (with Video)

If you’ve been looking for a baby walker, you’ve surely been taken back by the sheer number of options on the market. I know I was. For this reason, I’d like to share my experiences with the VTech Sit, Stand and Ride Baby Walker.

After weeks of spending my weekends at all the local toy stores, I feel like I’ve earned my degree in baby walkers. The VTech Sit, Stand and Ride Baby Walker offered many more features than the competition, even those that were more expensive. Keep reading to learn all about this model and all the different ways your baby can interact with it.

VTech Sit, Stand and Ride learning Baby Walker

The VTech Sit, Stand and Ride Baby Walker is a 3-in-1 toy that grows with your baby through many of their early developmental stages. This walker is one of the only walkers that your baby can use before they’re even crawling, thanks to its interactive activity panel.

The walker is easy to transform into any of its stages. If your baby tends to bore easily, you’ll find that the included steering wheel, gear shifter, and light-up buttons will keep them captivated for hours. The Walker encourages imaginative play, and once your baby is ready, they’ll be cruising the house in style.

What Age is the VTech Sit, Stand and Ride Learning Baby Walker For?

The answer to this question is one of the best features of this model. Most walkers seem to have a very limited age window in which their use is appropriate for. But the VTech Sit, Stand and Ride Baby Walker can be used by your child for several years instead of only a few months.

VTech recommends that children ages 9 to 36 months use this walker, but my experience was a bit different. I received this walker as a gift months before my baby was ready to use it, or so I thought. What I didn’t realize at first is that the activity panel can be used when a baby is still learning how to get around. My baby wasn’t even crawling yet, but if I positioned him in such a way that he could reach the buttons and toys on the panel, he would play and squeal with happiness.

Once my baby was moving a bit on his own, I transitioned the toy into a walker and eventually into the ride-along toy. I would say that this walker is great for babies as young as six months and can be used as a ride-alone toy for as long as a toddler can safely ride it based on height and weight. This makes the VTech Sit, Stand and Ride Baby Walker a great investment toy. It’s sure to be used nearly every day, compared to other toys that collect dust in the playroom because your child quickly outgrew them.

Features

The bright primary colors on the VTech Sit, Stand and Ride Baby Walker caught my attention because I knew my child would be immediately drawn to them. The activity panel is busy, but if your baby needs more than a couple buttons to earn his interest, this would be considered a plus.

The wheels are large, especially the back which are nearly double the width of the front. The handlebar is the perfect height and size for little hands. Now if you’re looking for a walker with a bucket seat, this isn’t the one for you. But check out all the included features on this model.

  • Activity panel is removable and has two modes of play
  • Includes piano feature with five keys to encourage an early appreciation for music
  • Wheels work on both hardwood and carpeted floors
  • Includes plenty of toys, including two colorful spinning rollers, three shape sorters, and multiple light-up buttons
  • Includes pretend telephone handset
  • Plays over 70 sing-along songs
  • Sound effects and fun phrases keep baby engaged while promoting imagination

If this is the style of baby walker you’re looking for, there are few negatives. But here are a few things to keep in mind.

Other Options

If you’re looking for a more modern walker style that includes a bucket seat, there are several great options to choose from. I’ve always liked the Joovy Spoon Walker. It costs a bit more but it has three height positions to grow with your child, and the seat seems very comfortable compared to other models.

The Chicco Baby Activity Walker is another great walker. It also includes an activity center. The music plays when your child walks forward and stops when they do, which encourages them to keep practicing.

While these options are great, I do think the VTech Sit, Stand and Ride Baby Walker gives you a little more for your money. You get three great toys for one price, and your child will love it for years to come.

Final Verdict

I’m so glad I took the time to do plenty of baby walker research. All those hours spent at the store and reading up on reviews was time-consuming. But I know I made the best choice for my baby. He loves his walker, and I’ve lost count of the hours he’s spent using it, between the activity panel and using it to get around the house.

If you’re looking for a baby walker, I highly suggest the VTech Sit, Stand and Ride Baby Walker. I found it affordable, safe, and superior to so many other push baby walkers on the market. If you’re looking for a toy that can grow with your child, don’t put off buying the VTech Sit, Stand and Ride Baby Walker any longer.
